Having over 24 years experience as a litigation attorney, Lynndolyn Mitchell is licensed to practice law in Maryland, Virginia, and The District of Columbia, she is an inactive member of the State Bar of California. During Law School, Ms. Mitchell served as a law clerk for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office and represented clients as a student attorney in the District of Columbia's Legal Assistance by Law Students Program. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California, Irvine and earned her Juris Doctorate degree from The Antioch University School of Law (Washington D.C.).
Prior to opening her practice in Rockville, Maryland n 2007 , Ms. Mitchell was associated with a civil/criminal practice law firm in Arlington, Virginia where she represented clients in both family and criminal law matters. Ms. Mitchell acquired significant trial experience as a Deputy Public Defender in Riverside, California. She was also a Senior Assistant Public Defender in Virginia Beach, Virginia. (certified to handle death penalty cases).
While serving as a senior assistant public defender in Virginia Beach, Ms. Mitchell successfully litigated over 35 felony jury trials including but not limited to robbery, sexual assault and murder. Ms. Mitchell has also successfully tried numerous contested bench trials including child custody, divorce, and protective order proceedings.
Ms. Mitchell has argued cases before the Virginia Court of Appeals and has appeared before the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.
In addition to her courtroom experience, Ms. Mitchell taught courses in the paralegal studies and criminal justice programs for the University of Maryland University College (UMUC Europe). As a result of her position as an adjunct professor, Ms. Mitchell was Nominated "Who's Who Among America's College Teachers" (2004-2005).
Ms. Mitchell served as a defense coach for the mock trial competitions at the Naples American High School while residing in Naples, Italy (1998-(2001).
Ms. Mitchell is a member of The Maryland State Bar Association (solo small firm, family law section), The Montgomery County Bar Association, The American Bar Association, The Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys Association (MCDAA), The J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association, The District of Columbia Bar, The Virginia State Bar. She was an active member of the Arlington County Bar Association from 2001-2007 and the Old Dominion Bar Association.
Ms. Mitchell currently serves as co-chair of the Education Law Section of the Montgomery County Bar Association and serves as a panel attorney for the Maryland Office of The Public Defender's CINA (children in need of assistance) division. (representing parents).
